About Us

My name is Nelson R. Bernal and I am the owner and president of NRB Drafting Services, Inc.  I have had the desire to be a draftsman since the 8th grade.  I grew up in Cupertino, California and soon moved to Campbell, California where I graduated with honors form Westmont High School in 1981.  I also competed at the state level in cross country and track & field.  I attended West Valley Junior College in Saratoga, California in order to complete my general education.  I continued to compete in cross county as well.  After attending junior college for two years, I transferred to California Polytechnic State university in San Luis Obispo to continue my education.  I graduated from Cal Poly in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture, with an emphasis in landscape design.  Upon graduating, I went to work for a general contractor in Paso Robles as an architectural draftsman.    My primary position was to prepare hand-drawn architectural construction documents for  their clients.  I also did some accounting,  general maintenance, and learned how to work with the local building/planning department  jurisdictions.   After working for 5 years under the supervision of the principal architect, I  started my own business.  Over time and in order to keep current with the building industry, I began to use computer aided drafting.  My company has always maintained at least one part-time draftsman and as many as three in order to keep my motto of "On Time Services" a true statement.   Please take some time to browse the web site, I am sure there will be something  that gets your attention and will make you want to use our services.

Experience

NRB Drafting Services, Inc.  keeps involved with current government mandates, building codes, and building design standards by attending seminars conducted by local building officials and contraction supply companies.   Furthermore, during my past 20 years plus in business, I have been fortunate enough to build several speculation homes.  This venture has helped the drafting business tremendously.  By communicating with sub-contractors in the field helps us be more aware of issues that may arise during construction.  We are able inform our clients of situations that can be avoided with simple modifications in the design phase.
